Starting my business, Wk 1 - Introduction
My name is Sara Dalmazzo-Auckland. I am 27 years old and have decided to embark on the challenge of starting up my own business, after having what I believe to be great idea and a gap in the market.
I am in my last year of law school and will qualify as a legal executive in January 2011. Although I have a passion for the law I already know that the working culture of lawyers is not compatible with my future aspirations to become a mother and have a good work-life balance!
I have also learn that whilst working full time (I study part time) that I do not want to be a "coffee clutching commuter" as I call it, when I’m older. I don’t want to have to work my socks off for someone else to reap all the rewards and I would love to be my own boss and avoid all of the "office politics" I have come to know as common place when you work for a large organisation. Those who have experienced the same will know what I am talking about!
I am planning to start up my business (hopefully in 2011), I want too give myself 6 months to a year, and do this alongside my day job with the ultimate aim of giving up practicing as a lawyer when the business makes enough money for that to be a possibility. After all we all have to pay the rent/mortgage!
I have decided to start up a business that pulls together all of the high end products associated with babies and young children, whilst also sourcing some new and innovative products myself from small time businesses. I am aiming at the mothers with a high disposable income, the "yummy mummies" if you like of this world! I am only at the early stages of the thought process and I already have so may ideas...im itching to get started but want to make sure i take one step at a time and get this right.
I am very excited about the journey I am about to embark upon. My ideas at the moment are very all over the place and I know nothing about setting up a business so I am at the very first stage of the proceedings. I have just purchased "start your business week by week" and I am on week one now.
I am also yet to decide on a name for my business...it has to feel perfect to me and I think when the name comes to me I will "just know"...watch this space.
I will be writing my Pilot blog so you can follow my progress...wish me luck and good luck to all the fellow budding entrepreneurs on this site!!!
