Week 2: Think About Your Dreams
I've been thinking long and hard about where I want myself to be in five years' time, and have decided that I want to achieve the following:
1) To earn £12,000 per year
2) To be completely free of any personal debt
3) To start studying towards a Business Studies degree
4) To begin fulfilling my ambition of visiting every Olympic host city
5) To be independent, and have a place of my own.
The latter is probably the most important, although all of these goals are probably interlinked in some way. To get to where I want to be, I have set myself a realistic set of goals for the first 3 years:
Year 1:
1) Earn £3,725 from running my own business
2) Reduce the amount of debt I owe by £700 by the end of the year
3) Work on building my relationships with my new partner and friends
4) Make new contacts and earn new friends
Year 2:
1) Earn £7,450 from running my own business
2) Reduce the amount of debt I owe by £1,400
3) Continue building new and existing friendships and contacts
Year 3:
1) Earn £11,175 from running my own business
2) Repay the last £2,100 of debt by the end of the year
3) Register on a home study course to begin working towards a degree
4) Book my first holiday to Athens
5) Look into renting my first apartment
I think that starting a business is DEFINITELY the way to go, and I'm really eager to make a start and become a step closer to achieving my goals in five years' time.
