Its all change at the end of Year 1

I started my company on 02nd Oct 2006 - wow how a year fly’s. I had a month of planning and discussions before I went live – so I have now been running my business for over a year.

I have hit my targets and made a living by being my own boss. Well you are never your own boss whilst you have business to business customers!! I must say there have been challenges and mistakes but on the whole it has been a liberating experience.

I have had to listen to my market and learn from some of the things I have done or even not done. As a result of customer feedback the company is about to change its name. Scarecrow Consulting has received mixed feedback - some people have loved the name - but the more senior executives have told me that they feel it gives the wrong message and they do not get it - so I have researched my market and come up with something that is a bit more corporate and will help me get to the next level and hopefully help me grow the business during its second year.

So…..The Scarecrow is dead - long live Continual Solutions.......................I have changed the companies name and adjusted our propositions to reflect what we do and make it easier to understand. Please look at the new website www.continualsolutions.co.uk .

If you wish to make changes to the name of your company remember the following.

1. Inform companies house – this can take up to one month to complete so plan in advance.
2. Inform your bank – they have official paper work – plan this again – or you could be trading under one name and be invoicing under an other!!
3. Inform the tax man – your returns and vat paperwork needs to be changed, this can take time – so yet agin corporate change takes time – its not just your customers you need to inform.
4. Tell your customers and make them aware – maybe a chance for a party. I will not be having a party just a mail shot!!
5. Try to have a project plan – I have had to create new business cards and a new website with new logo’s etc – this takes time and money!!

I am also going to enter a number of the local business awards for new businesses. I am proud of what I have achieved during me first year and want to tell people about our success. Year two will bring its challenges - but on the whole it is very exciting. I have enjoyed being responsible for the cash and also having to build my business from nothing.
