Come and See our Football Blog
Welcome to the UK's newest and we think best football prediction web site.
We hope that you enjoy playing this as much as we do.
After 7 years in the box waiting to be let loose on the Global football fan at last we have got our act together. We have put our money where our big mouths are and gone and done it!
We have a lot more to follow in the new year under the Pick10 umbrella but for the mean time we hope you enjoy playing footballwinners.
GOOD LUCK
Gaz & Pete
I have just launched a football prediction game - come and have a look - i would really welcome some feedback

Am I missing something?
Ummmm not sure this business model is a starter to be honest - I can get far better odds betting on each of the games on any book makers web site. Assuming the odds are roughly even (in fact the games you have selected are likely to be won by teams with higher odds than that), then for my £2 stake I would win £2048. Looking at your site I'd get a share of £109.10, so a bit of a no-brainer where to bet on football.
With you taking a hefty 35% I dont imagine you'll recoup your costs and no wonder its been sitting on the back burner for ages. Anyone with any betting sense should steer well clear.
If you'd taken an idea like this into Dragon's Den then I'm afraid you would have heard. I'M OUT !! Back to the drawing board I think - don't waste your savings on this venture, it will fail.
I Hope you are!!
Coconuts - I hope you are just confused, but thanks for the feedback - it is all good.
This is not a fixed odds game or aimed at the serious punter, or all the problems that come with that type of bet. The national lottery have odds of well into the millions to one. This game is not designed to be easy - but it does rely on skills and chance. This weeks games are not as easy to predict as last week. The results last week went pretty as much as expected - this week is harder to call. We are a remote pools operation not a high street bookies. We are aiming at the office syndicate and people who like to try and predict the winners each week
If you were to research the percentage taken to admin this operation I think you will find we are competitive. It is important that we use the right merchant and this has an overhead. This does not use a cheap payment method. I would rather ensure that payment is secure than to use a cheap and cheerful way of accepting money. The pot is currently small as this is week 1 of our operation. We are also fully licensed by the uk gaming commission and customs and excise.
I am glad you mentioned the dragons den, as in my opinion anybody serious about growing a business would not sell to them in any instance as it is usually at an over inflated price. As you do not get my new operation I would support your view that no investment is required but would thank you for the coverage you gave me and free publicity.
As I started thanks for your feedback and good luck with any ideas you may have.
I believe that being an Entrepreneur is about turning ideas into reality, and we have done that, but you also need to be able to listen to your market – so I will be sure to bring your observations up with my partner.
Not quite the same as the lottery!
Comparing footballwinners to the lottery did make me chuckle! Firstly, the dream of the lottery is to win £millions and not £109.30 and secondly a proportion of the profits go to good causes (also known as Camelot!).
The lure of Dragon's Den has to be more about publicity and/or gaining some useful contacts rather than for pure financial reasons. But in context with your venture I guess its not wholly relevant.
I can see the "bit of fun" aspects of this - although with costs as low as £2 I am assuming that your payment commission is a good percentage of this (would a fiver have given you a better return?), although I haven't looked into your business model, competitors etc as I expect that you will have done this prior to launching. I still think that your target audience would be better served having an accumulator bet with the bookies as the returns will be significantly higher.
If you would like some other feedback, and the bit that would definately stop me having a go (after you have £2048 in your pot), is the treatment of postponed games. I don't believe that this is fair on your punters as these should be voided or the pools panel result used. We are entering the winter period and games being called off, especially outside the Premier is likely to rise, alongside your pot at your customers expense.
Good luck though, I have a feeling that you will need it.
Hasn't taken off yet then?
I see that the "jackpot" has increased to a whopping £129.90 over the last few weeks. Perhaps the flaws in your offering and the fact that you would need to spend a small fortune on advertising to increase hits are proving that your business plan wasn't really thought through. Steve's book advises that you run your ideas past people, you really couldn't have done this unless you went to spec savers and they all had their rose-tinted glasses on. To the outsider, you have wasted money on a good looking web site for little chance of any income.
Back to the drawing board?
Coconuts.....no knowledge just nuts!
Glad to see that you continue to take an interest in the success of Pick10.
Since, as you point out, you have not been privy to the Business Plan I am happy to inform you that the business is on 'plan' with a very successful launch 3 weeks ahead of schedule. We have 20 more games to launch under the Pick10 umbrella over the next six months, the first of which will go live in February (3 months ahead of plan!).
Having successfully launched, developed and run various ventures I am sure that we will hit all of our targets within the 18 months that we have set.
Please feel free to keep checking up on our progress and let us know what you think in 18 months time.
Wow, another £4 this week
Jackpot upto £133.80 now - but somehow I don't think I'll bother looking again in 18 months. And no need to get all defensive - it was constructive feedback. As I pointed out vefore, better odds can be obtained from any on-line bookmaker so I'm unclear how you hope to compete until your jackpot hits thousands.
As I said before good luck and if you have another 20 games based on this format you will need it!
I bet you support Man U
Well coconuts - I am intrigued to find out what your business is, I bet it is something really safe like hairdressing. I bet you support Arsenal or Man U - it is great taking the safe options if that is what you like.
This is a risky business - but any business that relies on advertising will take time to build up. So we have not wasted lots on advertising - as we will use the internet to do what it is meant to do. We have invested just enough for this stage of the venture. Most importantly this venture has been fun - please share any professional football contacts you have - we will never turn away free advice and contacts.
I am glad that you have taken such an interest please keep in touch. Anybody else got any advice?
Gary

I bet you support Newcastle or Spurs!
I am unclear what your point is here - and no I don't support Man U or Arsenal (or Chelsea for that matter). However, I think that you are being disparaging and unfair to people on here who do look at safe businesses - risk is a personal thing and if you have money to burn then that is your choice.
You are taking very little risks if your business model is as strong as you make out - the only costs you have are web hosting, advertising and the £100+ you put in the pot to start with. Perhaps you would like to share with the readers what capital you are actually risking here. Have you re-morgaged your house to support this business? Nah, I thought not
I do love it when people get so defensive, especially when they have a poor idea and can't see beyond the end of their nose.
So, like Newcastle and Spurs - you will huff and puff a lot, but never win a thing. Come back in 18 months and tell me how much you have made and I'll gladly eat my hat - somehow I don't think that is very likely !!
If you wish to continue a slanging match on here (which does you and your business no favours) after I merely provided you with constructive feedback then be warned - I always have the last word!
........easy...............
........easy............... wow you can not expect to give only negative feedback and expect us to take it without a little banter. We will move with our market and are only 4 weeks old. I have also thanked you twice - as i believe all feedback is good. I believe the final word will be in a while - our idea is to provide a service to football fans.
I have asked for info on you background please do not be so shy - I would like to understand your background.

Football fan!
I am a football fan - watch my team home and away actually. I also have the odd flutter on football, which is how I know that your "pool" idea is flawed unless you get thousands playing every week. To do that you need to spend a fortune on advertising - would work if you were Ladbrokes or Coral, but you arent.
Your pot has gone up by about £4 this week which means you have had 3 players I believe and just about £2 to you in admin charges. Perhaps if you bought a lottery ticket each you could re-coup your losses! You are moving with your market, because in all honestly I don't think you have one.
Nuts , no knowledge, no sense and lets face it no idea
No nuts go get a life!
When you actually achieve something come and give us your advice.
Football losers
Oh dear - I thought that you guys weren't going to get all tetchy and it was banter. Now you are getting personal, presumably as the reality sets in.
You are now telling me that I'm not qualified to give you advice. Actually if you read the thread again I didn't actually give you any and was just challenging your business model. 3 punters in a week doesn't sound like much of an achievement to me - and I bet one of those was your auntie Mabel. Have you actually read Steve's book as you don't seem to be interested in listening to a potential customer's views. BIG MISTAKE. Also - copying an existing idea (20 times!!), that doesnt work, is foolhardy.
As a football fan - I go to more games than you - and as a regular punter on football matches I am actually qualified to comment on your business. In fact I am exactly the type of customer you are looking for. If you aren't after feedback then why on earth did you post on here in the first place. You weren't after cheap advertising now were you?!!!
Your sales figures seem to point to me not being the only one who thinks its poor value and the only way you could grow this is with expensive, and regular advertising. Only a BIG pot will attract your customers. You can't even focus on a specific local market.
You can be as abusive as you like, but like I said before it does neither you or your business any favours.
Laugh, I nearly did!
Ohh you do make me laugh. I love people like you. Makes everything in life so worth while.
Let's hope your little partnership deal comes off because I wouldn't want you rushed off your feet.
Thank you ever so much for your apparent concern with our business and I apologise for suggesting that you had imparted any advice or knowledge. You are of course 100% right you provided us with absolutely nothing.
Good luck in you little life.
You must have a great sense of humour
My oh my - you got one MAJOR point wrong.
I have no concern for your business, because frankly you don't have one!
Come back on here when your company is turning over £100k per annum then I might just listen - at the moment you are on track for just £104.
I think you are in need of some serious business (and common sense) help here - you need to drive hits to your web site and that is going to cost. You can avoid the debate as much as you want, that just shows how flawed your 7 year dream is.
I used to have pie-in-the-sky ideas when I was a kid too - but thankfully I didn't make the mistake of following up the silliest ones.
You can come back for more of you want, but until you actually add substance to your messages you are making your business look very very silly with your inane comments and sarcasm. If you re-read my messages all my comments have been constructive and factual, unlike yours.
However, Gary seems much more pragmatic than you and what is it they say about two opposites!
No nuts or is it small nuts?
You have confirmed all. You really are a little man with very little ambition. £100k! I wouldn't get out of bed for that.
You are so simple and so easy to play. It's been great fun but I'm affraid I now have bigger and better things to be getting on with. I know that you will want the last word, as you are a little man, so over to you my small nuts friend. Good luck in you little life, who knows maybe one day you will be successful. Keep plugging away!
Bitter and twisted or what?
Why you guys started this thread asking for feedback I'll never know - although I do have a suspicion why it was started. You got feedback, that has been constructive throughout, and you have resorted to pathetic playground comments because the comments were accurate and couldn't be challenged with reasoned and sensible argument.
In addition your final comments are a slur on just about everyone on here, many of whom would be more than happy with £100k. If you are so big in the business world then why bother creating a web site that takes an amazing £4 per week? and also why hang around on a site for new entrepeneurs if you already know all the answers?
I can't see any point in getting into your childish "my business is bigger than your business" but if you act like this in the business world then you really don't have a hope in hell.
Enjoy your dream - because thats all it is.
Football Losers
8 months on and do you fancy providing us all with an upate on how your "I wouldn't get out of bed for £100k" business is going?
You have even put a grand of your own money into the pot to make it look good, but it still creeps up by only around a fiver a week. I hope one of those 2 people playing win it, now that would be funny, although its probably just the pair of you anyway.
Looks like the coconut was right about your flawed business model and you just wouldn't listen. Hearts ruling your heads I reckon - now there's some advice, use your
heads and create a viable business plan before coming up with your next crackpot idea. And listen to feedback from others too.
Coconuts
Its worse than I predicted
This silly footballwinners idea is even more flawed that I imagined chaps. When I said that one of the 3 people playing was your Auntie Mabel it gets worse. From this weeks "blog":-
"perfect 101 from Northampton won the BEST PICKS game this week - so congratulations."
Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't perfect101 the name that you posted on above, which means that you couldn't even sell the idea to your Auntie, you are betting on it yourselves. This is also illegal I believe, but as you have nothing but your gaming license to lose I'd probably be doing you a favour by reporting it.
If only you'd listened to me 9 months ago or you had done some proper customer research before that. A lesson for everyone on here is to develop a robust business plan and don't let your heart rule your head. It might seem like a good idea to you, but without testing it with others first you haven't a hope in hell.
Agree to disagree
Ok guys, I think this conversation has gone as far as it needs to.
It's fine to disagree with people and their ideas on here - but please let's do it in a constructive and respectful way. Flyingstartups is a place where we encourage and support each other.
No more posts here please. None. I mean, really none. :)
Thanks
Steve

Constructive and Respectful
Steve, with respect I think that I have been both of these throughout this thread but if you read it from the top Perfect101 was the one who got personal. And I was just congratulating him for winning money on his own venture - perhaps that's the secret business model after all, and tax free too.
Footballwinners was not posted on this site to discuss the business model, it was posted to advertise free of charge so fair game I think. I also think that my views have been proved 100% accurate.
Coconuts
PS Last message on here from me then, but happy to take off-line if you prefer.
