My plane has grounded!

It's been months since I posted a blog... the main reason is because as of 1st October, I'm back in the world of employment!

I was happily building videos when my customers started saying they wanted me to work for them exclusively... the one who got there first finally offered me a full-time job building videos and training people to use their software.

So... my company is dormant, the pilot's uniform put away in mothballs, and I'm now one of the crew of a larger plane...

But at least I know how it feels to set up your own business and I think that'll really help me do my job better. And I'll be keeping my company in case I ever decide to try again.

Good luck to everyone on the Flying Start Ups programme and thanks so much to Steve and Anna for their help and support.

Congratulations

Hello M

Well done you. Someone we know, a lawyer, was invited by a client to work for him full time. He did, he was given 10% of the company as his motivation, I believe he is now a millionaire.

Back to you, a lesson to teach other start ups, an exit plan. I believe, from experience that you must have a concrete viable exit plan before you sign on the dotted line, otherwise you are stuck with covenants and the like.

Don't view your move as anything but a triumph.

Kind regards

Wow, thats great news, M.

Wow, thats great news, M. I'm glad you've found a company you can work for that makes you happy.

Best of luck! :)

Thanks

Hi Harry and Dan,

Many thanks to you both for your comments - and good luck to you both too.

I had only been going for 6 months and most of that I spent working for this customer who's now become my employer, so an exit plan didn't really apply - I'm doing the same thing, just with a different hat on!

Take care,

M

Hi M

I really think you are right, I think you will have loads of benefit from your experience in starting up a business. Your employer should come to realise as well how valuable this extra insight is to them. And you will be able to understand their clients' perspective better as well. After all they will all be business people and precious few employees think like entrepreneurs!
All the best!
