can I do it?
I havent been posting here much, well if the truth be told noting for 22 weeeks. My business should be up and running by now, but it's stalled. Everywhere I turn there's a brick wall. Probably the biggest hurdle isn't financial, nor planning, or accommodation, it's support.
I am finding that everybody around me (family) is well less than supportive here, and its just wearing me down. Not that the business isnt viable or a good idea, or I cant do it, there's just negativity all around me.
To be honest I need a confidence booster. Can I do this? Of course I can but I need the support of those around me, this is one area not touched on by many, but is absolutely critical.
Anyway I'll just keep moving forwards (I hope) to see what I can still achieve.

Hi Alan,
I myself have had similar doubts in fact my post is still up here. I have now gone from a part time to a full time job so I was able to concentrate on my ideas, the advice I was given was to go for it you wont know if you dont try and I am trying to live by this moto and am on Chapter 1 of Steve's book getting ready although I have been on chapter one for a few weeks as I decided to tidy the house and have a boot sale to bring in some much needed cash.
It is hard when family are not supportive, I have been there at times myself, but I got around this by asking them what their fears were and trying to help them to help me find solutions, I also know that my friends and collueages and even some competitiors have been really supportive and being there for me every step of the way, so I take comfort in this.
Business Link is also great, as you get to meet a lot of like minded people.
Good Luck, you will get there in the end, Keep going, but rest when you need to.

Go for it!

Positive Energy
Hi Alan,
I know how you can feel sometimes - it can feel like the world's against you.
Gaynor's recommendation of who moved my cheese is and excellent and inspirational quick read.
However, could I also recommend, "The Energy Bus" by Jon Gordon. It is hands down, one of the most insipirational books I have ever read, and it is written in a simple story like fashion - centred round a guy who sounds much like he is in the situation you are now.
Believe me - its well worth the mere £8 for a copy and it gives you 10 rules which will fuel your work and personal life on a daily basis - I keep a copy on my desk alongside my copy of "Start your business week by week" just for those days when you need a little boost.
Try it and see!
