Workshops: The way forward
With a hot cuppa beside me and a few minutes to spare before zipping down to the kitchen to make dinner for the Mr and me, I have decided to quickly update my pilot's log with the latest happenings of Gee How Quaint.
I have decided that workshops are definately the way forward, as the Title suggests. Recently, a local (and very big!) art gallery has opened up a gift shop. In their little gift shop, I am selling some of my travel bags. Hurrah! Anyway, at the First Thursday of every month, they open up the gallery to the public during late hours, put on some live tunes or hire a groovy dj, and invite their artists to chats and demos. For the June First Thursday, I demonstrated my printing technique and boy was that fun! I talked to so many people and was impressed to see the range of ages interested in my demo. I had kids making swim bag designs and women in their 60's asking me about the Gocco printing machine.
I had sign up sheets for those interested in workshops and I did have a nice little handful of people jot their names down on the paper.
I think getting involved in the gallery has been such a wise move for me as they have been instrumental in helping me to promote myself here in Newcastle. Plus, I may very soon have some of my art on their walls. I am branching out somewhat, as you can see. Also, I have decided to take my printing to new frontiers and to not just stick to the travel bags.
Blah blah blah. I think that's me done :)
