Quick update

Been really busy in the last two weeks with my 9 to 5.

I've decided to re-read Start your Business Wk by Wk and the Small Business Handbook to try and keep focused.

Had some issues with my car over the last fortnight - I took a car cash allowance for the job I started last June and bought a car with which I could profit from the change. This company shafted me and I moved in January to where I am now and kept my own car. The combination of allowance and petrol chargebacks have meant the car kinds of pays for itself but with problems recently I'm now forking out hard earned cash to maintain it and am going to go back into the company car scheme and sell mine whilst it's still worth something.

This all brings into focus the issue about a car when I launch the business in 2009 - I wll need a vehicle then and need to think now about the most efficent (both from a running/cost and tax point of view for a limited company).

Whew, lots of details to look at !

I'm also thinking about working family tax credits - at the moment we don't qualify as we're over the household limit of 50 odd thousand. However in the new business I'll only be taking a nominal salary for the first 12 months so we should qualify - according to the hmrc's calculator I'd be eligible for over £ 200 per month. Important details to include in the budgeting

Bullish about Business, what recession ....
