Now, where did I put my helmet and goggles...
I've been with my current employer for just over a year now and have worked on some fantastic projects - including building a knowledge base full of videos, and building two video-based training programmes.
But now I'm being politely hustled out.
Don't ask.
This all came to a head last Friday which also just happened to be my birthday. What a lovely birthday present I don't think.
So on Saturday, off I went to the library to see what jobs there might be locally (Carlisle) for a qualified accountant.
There were some jobs advertised, but none of them really grabbed me. I thought, "I want to do something and be someone. I want to do my own thing. I don't want to be stuck in an office doing what an employer wants me to do, as well as what a customer wants me to do, which might be two different things, and if you're an employee you're stuck because you have to do what the boss says."
So, in spite of the fact that, unlike last year, I've now got a mortgage to pay, I decided to dust off my old business idea.
Except that this time I've changed it.
I've discovered that training can be tedious because it involves saying the same things over and over again.
So this time it's just going to be videos.
And the journey of discovery is already beginning. I've found a website that will let me upload videos ready for customers to download them. Much better than e-mailing them to customers. And a contact of mine from the days before I first went into business has already offered me a project. More than that I can't say at the moment.
I've also realised that I've got to think positive.
Upsetting though the whole job thing is, this could be just the spur I needed to really make a go of my new business and prove myself.
I'm going to fly again!
