Introduction
Hi, I'm Liz and I've just joined this fantastic site!
I have around 8 years experience of recruiting for the accountancy sector, predominantly in South Lincolnshire. I started out at a large national organisation where I got all my training, before moving to work for a small consultancy firm (lining someone else's pockets!).
I began planning the setup of the business last year, but it's been dependent upon a house move, which keeps getting delayed. The house move will take me closer to my clients and also fund the business, meaning that I can concentrate on selling instead of worrying about money.
In this type of industry you are in effect working for yourself anyway, building up your network of contacts and your client base. I guess I am in the lucky position of having all my clients already; most of them have been asking me about setting up on my own for years now.
I can't wait to get going, so I'm in the process of reading the 'Start your business week by week' book. However, until I've moved, which is likely to be another month, I just have the planning to concentrate on.
Oh, by the way, I quit my job to concentrate on this about 3 weeks ago. Not something I'd necessarily recommend, but the alternative was becoming unbearable!!!
Hope to get to know some of you a little better.
Liz

Hi Liz,
Well Congratulations on taking the first step and quitting the job, As Yazz once said 'The only way is up'.Having clients or potential clients isn't bad either.
If you hadn't quit the job you may not of focused on the job in hand and just been dreaming for longer, so i think you've made the right decision!
Anyway
Good luck Liz

Hi Liz
Congratulations on taking the big step and quitting your job. I'm all for quitting myself - got a real buzz from it ;-) Good luck with the house move, I hope you get that sorted soon. I know how stressful that can be. Fingers crossed you'll be up and running soon.
Cheers, Emily

Hi guys,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm off to look at premises tomorrow, which is pretty exciting. I can see I'm going to end up working a lot more working for myself! Last night I was researching new client management systems until 11pm.
Thanks for the best wishes on the house move and yes, it does feel great having handed in my notice and it certainly does focus you. I read recently that lots of people think about setting up on their own, but so few people do it. It's actually really liberating and with all of the support available, a lot more straight forward than I had anticipated (not that that will definitely last!)
Take care
Liz
Hi Liz, welcome to the site.
Its great that you can leave work to focus on your business, I think that is the barrier that a lot of people can't get past so they eventually just have to give up. Have you started your business plan yet? It's great fun!
Good luck with the house move, I've just been through that myself so I know how stressful it can get, its even worse when you're running a business from home and you've got to move that with you, I'm still getting redirected junk mail for the business 4 months on.

Thanks Dan. Sadly the house move fell through. I've had to set up from home, but it's going well so far. Been incredibly busy, mainly with admin, working late each night. I'm still really glad that I've done it though!
