Google Rating
Having just started up an online business my rating on Google is currently zero! Which I suppose is only to be expected. How can you influence ratings? Is 'pay per click' all hype and no substance? I have registered with a number of free directories but this can't be the only way to improve a sites rating?
Thank you in advance for any feedback or advice regarding this problem.

Hi Christine
Getting a good ranking in the search engines is a combination of optimising your website for the keywords that are important to your business and getting as many other relevant sites to link to you as possible. Pay per click can be a way of driving traffic to your site, but doesn't necessarily affect your Google rating. I would recommend looking at the free options first - making sure your site is as search engine-friendly as possible and seeing if there are some related websites you can arrange a link exchange with.
If you'd like to send me your web address I can give you some pointers (can be contacted through my work website below).
Best wishes
Emily
