Registering with HM Revenue and Customs

Hi,

You need to register within 3 months of setting up the company. I have done this fairly recently and they sent me a form which is quick and easy to fill in (name, address, NI numbers etc).

To the best of my knowledge, it doesn't matter when you register with HMRC. Of course if you set up your Ltd company earlier than you need then you will need to pay the annual fee sooner... but for £15 (I think) to re-register online, it is worth reserving your name!!

Company resgistration

I registered my company with companies house in May, but I won't be ready to really launch the company until end of October 06. I was contacted by Inland Revenue in July but I did write back to advise them that I was not launching until end of the year and I will advise them once I have done so. This is perfectly acceptable, based on the advise of my accountant (who is also in waiting for me to launch!)

At least I have my company name and website domains.
