Business Sponsors
I'm on week one ... and already I'm thinking of implementing even though I am no further than the ideas stage ... I am writing down all the ideas as I think of them.
I have 2 questions.
First one, is how or where do I find business sponsors? Where do I find someone who is willing to part with their money to invest in my dream?
Secondly, how do I stop other people from stealing myideas? Obviously at some point you need to talk to people to get more information but I am worried they take my idea because they have the finance to impliment that idea now.

Hi sforder.
With regards to your first query about business sponsors or business angels. There are things called angel networks where there are indivuduals looking to invest in ideas and businesses. I don't really have much experience in this though. I think it depends on how much investment you are looking for. You can always try the bank for funding - if you have the right plan, they will usually lend you what you can put in yourself. I think that there is a good section in the Week by Week book, so check that out if you haven't already.
Secondly... the issue of trust. It depends on what your idea is. If it is a piece of groundbreaking technology or similar, get suitable patent protection. Pay a patent agent to help you out. Expensive at first, but then you will own the idea. Ask for a confidentiallity agreement with them first though. For more info, check out www.patent.gov.uk.
If you do not feel you need to patent the business, then I am afraid that you will have to decide who you tell. I found this an issue too and I know that there are others that also have problems with this. If it is a normal-ish idea, just think - if they want to do it, why haven't they done it already. They either won't have the drive to do it or they don't actually want to do it themselves. Other than that, I can't really advise without knowing what the idea is - by the way, I realise the irony of that last point.
Best of luck anyway and I'll look forward to hearing more in future weeks.
