Free and torn between too many ideas
I am shocked. It is already 15 days ago that I passed an important test. This time I managed everything and I am a senior accountant now. Preperation time was 3 years. I am very happy about this success, even though I see that it is a dead end road, when I want to make more money than the average people do.
I wanted to get this qualification as a security, because I thought as an accountant I will always make so much money that I can survive.
Now I am torn between so many ideas:
-to work at least part time as an accountant
-writing a book
-doing export-import - selling my journals
I hope that all this ideas don't block me.
My resoultion: I want to do at least 1 thing every day for my import-export business.
I still have problems with my website. I see everywhere so nice websites and I ask myself how people manage it to create them.
Good luck for you all.

I know what you mean!
Hi Alice,
I have just read your log and I know what you mean about having lots of ideas and being worried about whether you should just stick with one or work on a number of simultaneous ideas. I have the feeling that if I leave one alone I will regret it, as it will be done by someone else - Then there is also the worry that I will spread myself too thin and not do proper justice to anything.
Answers on the bottom of a postcard (or a blog!)....
Our website, is constantly under consideration and is a different beast than the one that started late last Summer. I think that it is something that just needs working on.
Good luck to you as well..

Congratulations Alice!
Well done on passing your test and your new professional status! What would your book be about? Novel? Non-fiction? It is interesting to have lots of choices, and I am sure you will find out what want to do soon.
Good luck on the website too- once you know exactly what you want it to do for you, it will be easier to decide how it should look.

Thanks
Thank you for your uplifting comments. I am so happy that I found this website. It keeps me motivated and I find it very interesting how you all follow your ideas.
My book (I think it will be an e-book) will be on yoga. I practice daily Ashtanga Yoga for 3 years now. Before that I practiced classical hatha yoga. We have a wild international yoga scene. I want to give a surview on what's happening all over the world, where the gurus are and so on. I hope I can put down my ideas with humour and important/interesting content. I already have a titel (still a secret).
Regarding my website: I put down what little steps I have to do. Firstly I have to make a final decision on the products. Let me start with 10 products. I have to write down what I want for the "About me" sector. I have to order products, I have to take pictures of the products. And then I think I need help to publish it online.
Priority for today: I will prepare my taxes for 2005. I have all documents already filed. I have to fill in the forms, make the calculations. There is always still something to do.
Best wishes
Alice
what's the point?!?!
Hi Alice,
A quick tip on developing your website - forgive me for the negative title!!
I think you should work out who will be looking at your website and why they will be there (rather than why you want them to be there!!) - "what's the point" so to speak.
Have a welcoming homepage where it explains what you do. In your about us section, add a bit of personality - what is your business, who are you, what is different about you? At least that is what I reckon, but I'm sure some people must think otherwise - any opinions out there?
Are you using a web designer or doing the site yourself?
Hope your tax return all went ok!!

Content and technique
Hi Ollie,
first thank you for your helpful comment.
I see two large tasks. The first is the content of each section. I have to make decisions how to present myself, descriptions of my products and so on. That is not easy, but doable.
The second thing is I have to publish it. I already rented a shop at 1&1. But so far I am not able to bring pictures, descriptions and so on online. I think this is the point where I need some help.
I don't know where to contact a webdesigner and what they cost. I also want to learn how to change my website on my own as things always change and I don't want to buy everything. To be fast I have to do it on my own as well.
My knowledge so far is that I need HTML and PHP. I have already a book on HTML, but how to use it is still a little secret.
Technique is not my strength even though I visited the CEBIT at Hannover this weekend. It is worth going there even if your are just an end-consumer like me.
Best regards
Alice
Web Designer
Hi Alice,
I read your blog and comment to Ollie. In relation to Web designers I recommend that you look at Emily's site www.webfooteddesigns.co.uk She has offered me really good advice with my website - even though I have my own webdesigner. It has proved helpful with things to ask people about what you want, what you need and possible prices.
I think I am in the wrong business I should be an Agent!- only joking
Cheers Ruth
