Sandwich business Questionaire
Hello to everyone
I have been intrested in starting my own business for about a six months now. Being an unqualified chef for 18 years, I thought i would set up a buffet and sandwich business.
So i went to college and have just finished my NVQ level 2 professional catering, ECDL level 2 (a computer course) to help me with my confidence and knowledge.
I brought a copy of Start Your Business Week By Week and started reading. I cant put it down now. What the purpose of this blog entry is to say hello to everyone and get a liitle feedback on some questions, for market research purposes..
I would be very grateful if you could spare a couple of minutes to reply.
Do you visit Sandwich shops?
Are you Vegetarian/Vegan/ gluten free?
What do you look for in a good sandwich/bagette/roll?
Do you eat Take-Away Salads?
What drink do you buy?
What is your favourite sandwich filing
Do you think ordering by Text and Email a good idea?
i am busy researching all my competitors in the area to get their prices.
I believe in customers getting value for money , which unfortunately most sandwich shops dont give you, I.E not enough filling, price too high, shoddy ingredients.
Thank you for taking the time to read this I hope everyone has success in whatever they are undertaking

The most superb sandwiches I have ever bought where from a small sandwich shop in Manchester
Chicken , Bacon , Egg and mayonaise
Delicious fresh bread (Not a warburton etc loaf bread)
Superb I went every day for years
Coffee or water was the drink, but if your going to sell Coffee dont sell the cheap muck.
Just reliving my happiest lunch times as I type.. : - )
Thank you for you reply Blackfish, i am going around at the moment and getting some research. I am not going to start my business until i have a bit of money behind me and I have everything in place that i need.
If you want the customers to return dont give them shite, i intend to give them quality not quantity. No cheap muck i promise.
This website is excellent , it is great to recieve feedback from people who are actually going through what you are .
Excellent work to Steve for the book and website
Hello
I think I have been to that same shop in Manchester, I would agree with Blackfish. I come from the same angle as Blackfish, I like good coffee, I like good everything! Please may I take your idea from a different angle? You need to make this business make money, possibly longterm, a turnkey business. Take a cheese sandwich what is the most usual price charged in your chosen area? Could you make a profit on that most usual price? Now I would presume that the real profit, (you are the professional here), is with the 'bolt ons'. Real good quality coffee, like no one else makes it, and you charge for it too!!!
