HELP - no-one wants my products!!!!
Hi everyone,
I am in desperate need of some advice.
I did my research (at least I thought I did?), I wrote my plans, sourced equipment and spent weeks setting up my website, I sorted out my accounting software and registered for VAT. I selected keywords and did search engine optimisation. I wrote, produced and distributed brochures...and ....NOTHING HAPPENED!
Can anyone please help me by taking a look at my website (www.mytex.co.uk) and seeing if you can point me in the right direction so I can try to sort out my lack of sales as I can't really see where I have gone wrong or what to do about it. I am not describing what I do here in this post as, if people are kind enough to look at my site, I would like them to experience it as a first time visitor would.
Perhaps I have mis-judged my customer. Perhaps I can't get the benefit of my products across effectively. I get between 5 and 10 hits on the site a day (if I am lucky) which is not a lot for this sort of thing - I recon I need more like 500-1000 a day.
Perhaps, despite me asking people, my idea is just rubbish - or perhaps it's great but I can't get the traffic to my site so people know that they can benefit from it?
I am working alone (part of the problem?) and am at a loss as to what to do next. Please give me some honest feedback.
Thanks in advance.
Tim (troubled and worried - really very worried!)

Yes I'm getting same issues as Gaynor, let us know when it's sorted and perhaps we can help more...
If you are relying on SEO alone then that maybe a mistake...

Hi,
I got into the website, however I was a little confused by it and who you are aiming at.
I picked one of your offers for a company the Dell Latitude 6400 and looked at the price. I then went onto Dell's website and looked for the same computer, they are offering just the computer at half the price and the reviews of the laptop submitted by buyers were not very good overall, this would make me think twice about buying it.
As a small business, I think you need to really let customers know why you are different, however it took me a few minutes to find the "About us" page. I'd really push why you are different if you can't compete on price.
As a former worker in a large corporation, I know that our directors either no longer carried laptops, they had Blackberry's or if they did carry a laptop, they didn't bother with anything other than that and they had their own IT department.
I don't know what your research showed, my thought's are that whilst the website is quite nice, it's aiming at everyone and when I compare prices on just one item, I found price difference quite a bit and nothing that make me say " yep the price is higher but the service will be better".
If you have just started keep going, my website started slowly and you have to build your numbers up gradually unless you can get some amazing free publicity. Try Google Adwords, Free-Index etc, these can help you get your numbers up. The orders are now slowly coming through but it's hard work.
Keep going, you will get there i'm sure.
I agree with hrawle
Also "Wherever you are, whatever you need" is not a descent enough strap line IMHO if you start thinking about what makes you better from the competition then everything else should start to slot into place.
You are in a highly competitive marketplace and once you have your site sorted you could try PPC in the first instance to get the leads in.
If you can't differentiate on price then you need to find something to shout about and it should be pushed to the fore.

Hi Tim,
Sorry to hear things are going slow for you, i really hope they pick up.
One of the 1st things i look at are the "about us" section and i still haven't found it.
I also feel from a consumer point of view your landing page is a bit cluttered with all the pics and almost cheapens it. Maybe think about moving a couple.
I also cannot work out what your USP is, why should i buy from you rather than a well know brand like dell?
I do like your buy and go section though and the names you have for them.
How long have you been set up? Things do take a little time to pick up. I started my business www.jessicascupcakes.com in April 09 and only now have things started to pick up to a good level but still not what i want them to be.
Thanks
Jess
Hi there,
I think your site may be a bit, well unclear. Maybe a little restructuring of the website, e.g. Home Page - keep all of the important stuff at the top! Generally a user shouldn't have to scroll too much, so keep all of the company information in its own section... i.e. at the bottom of the page you have a few paragraphs describing the personal service you offer! It's great to have it on there, but your customers need to see it! So place all of that information in your about us section.
Possibly have two columns, either side of the page, with special offers, links to clearance products... the kind of things that customers may be looking for. You could even have 'similar products' displayed on the product pages so that the customer keeps looking.
Also, by having a clear site structure you can leave sufficient space for advertising... advertising space on websites sells at a premium and can be a good way to give your customers a 'brand reassurance'!
Hi there - my thoughts....
* Great info & pictures on the trolley sections. When I was on the road, would have been ideal (instead I balanced everything on a £14.99 crate from PC world
* If I was looking via Googler etc.. I would have "clicked off" from the home page. It looks "home made & small scale to me"
* Hang in there - the xcustomer review on tghe product I looked at was great.
I will bookmark your web site for future. I will be up and running , and on the road (rtaher than in my back bedroom" when my kite (business!) takes off !

Hi,
I tried to visit your website but I got the following page up instead:
'There is a problem with this website's security certificate' and so on....
I'm not terribly computer swavvy, but maybe many of your would-be customers are getting the same result as I did. If you get it sorted I'd be happy to have a look at your website and products.
All the best
