Dilemma...

Hi all,

Having recently joined flyingstartups (I found it through the podcasts on iTunes) I thought I would submit I quick post to say hello, but also to seek some advice...

I am 24, and having recently finished a Masters (in marketing) I have spent the last four months on a graduate scheme for a large consumer research agency in London. While I thought this career path would engage my passion for marketing, all it has done is created a strong desire to run my own business and to be a true entrepreneur.

I have plenty of ideas, but at the same time I am quite aware that the right one hasn't quite come along yet... In the mean time, I am doing everything I can to build my business acumen (reading, podcasts, talking to friends with experience), but I understand that there is no replacement for experiencing the organic growth of a start-up first hand.

With this in mind, I'd like to know what you think...

* Firstly, do I abandon my very reliable, yet very dull corporate career in pursuit of gaining experience with a small business? Is this a good idea? Any thoughts?

* Secondly, can anyone recommend a business that would benefit from/be interested in a fresh marketing mind?

While I am confident that I will thrive in a small business environment, and add value where I am given autonomy and a sense of purpose, I understand that it is not ideal for a business to invest in someone who may not be around for more than a couple of years. Either way I would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback!
