Taking people at face value ...

Taking people at face value ...

Just a thought, prompted by a recent meeting - although I will stress I'm not for one second doubting the integrity of the person I mention !!!

Had a meeting with a potential supplier for my business yesterday, the third with this type of supplier. Two have been good, one pretty average. But they all quote similar statistics and anecdotal success stories as each other.

Except for the one yesterday. On face value he seemed similar in style and temperament as the other two business owners but this person gave far more positive and upbeat assurances of his business capabilities.

My question is this .... is this person a better, more confident business person, deluded or lying. In other words (again not to challenge the veracity of the person I met yesterday) but how the hell do you know who to choose? Do you go with the supreme confidence or with the more conservative, safer assumption.

Now I know this kind of question provokes all sorts of reactions along the lines of gut feel, fit to business etc and I understand that. I've actually already made my decision but I was interested to know what other people thought?

Bullish about Business, what recession ....

Phil I would go on your gut

Phil

I would go on your gut instinct, you have to be sure of this person and work with them so if you have a doubt ask yourself can you deal with it or walk away.

As regard to character, this I think you can only judge after time. I always think you know deep down the right decision to make.
