Does anybody think that starting an online casino would be a good idea? Considering all the casinos that already exist eg: 888, pkr, partypoker etc. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

That depends entirely on what your USP is and where you are looking to position yourself in the market. I would guess that 888 etc spend millions on their site and marketing, which I assume you can't compete with.
How will you make your offering different and just as importantly how will you drive people to your site? The guys on here running football winners had a new idea, however with low uncompetetive prizes and no budget to drive visits they were aleays going to struggle - they also failed to listen to any feedback. A quick peek at their site and the "jackpot" has risen to a staggering £250 in 3 or 4 months wow!!
So, don't make the mistakes they have and chase a dream that is not practical.
