I'm lonely ...
The forums are real quiet at the moment - I'm toying with the idea of setting up a business network/breakfast club in Leeds/West Yorkshire.
Probably meet once every second or third week - we can unite under the banner of flying start up's (I'm sure Steve won't mind - although I will drop him an e-mail to check), swap war stories, network refer clients etc.
I'm happy to take on organisational duties myself to start meeting some peers.
Happy to rotate locations in and around the North (Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham etc) if that's of use.
A lot of this kind of thing costs to join but I'm thinking we start off informally and for free, see if there's any benefit to people who come and take it from there.

Hi Phil,
Good idea. I live near Liverpool on the west coast, so Manchester would be the nearest for me.

Great, when we've had a few more replies we can start thinking about logistics

Hi all,
I tried to get people to meet up a while ago with little success!!!
So to be honest think a regular networking meeting would be near imposible as we are all spread out accross the country.
Also i've been involved in trying to start a networking group (BNI) and it is hard, hard work even with the support from BNI and while it's beneficial to business and gerat fun, A lot and i mean a LOT, of people don't see the benefits!!!
Don't ask me why? It seems to me and as Steve say's in 'How to be an Entrepreneur' that they have started busness just to give themselves a 'job' and just go out and do the work and are not interested in building thier busnesses.
If you wanted to have a 6 monthly meet up somewhere central, to chat about business, I'd definatly be up for that though!
Cheers
Paul

Hi Sparkatrician
Got to agree with your summary, I really see my business idea from an antrepeneurial viewpoint, rather than a way to give myself a job (I've got a job at the moment and hate it) - I was trying to explain this to my accountant the other day - even though I'm setting up in financial services where I've got 15 years experience, that's just because it fits with the capital I have to invest and east of start up etc.
I plan to expand the business over time and then maybe try out some of the other ideas I have floating around in my head.
A central meet up seems like a plan - lets see what other interest we get in the next few weeks and come up with a plan then
