I haven't used my Abbey business for a while now since i changed to Barclays and i thought it was time i closed the account, so I called up customer (Joke) service a said that i wished to close the account, The said i need to put this in writing on letter headed paper which i did.
Today i got a letter back from them saying that to close the account i had to go to a branch with the original request and 1 form of ID to be certified as a true form of ID.
So now to close the account i have to travel to a branch 25 mins pay for parking (50p) que up(?!?!?!) and then travel back 25mins, all this just to close an account that is meant to 1. be free 2. operate postally or via the internet?
I now hate them even more! I did not think this possible.
Stay away from abbey and their free banking as it's anything but.
